IMC Floor Trough Gratings: The Complete Guide

Floor troughs are a mandatory part of any commercial kitchen. With that said, no floor trough is complete without grating. But, how do you know which grating to choose & how many types are there exactly?

In this article, we’ll give you some insight on each IMC grating manufactured at our facility & break down the differences between each. Let’s get started.

A Note About IMC Floor Trough Gratings

IMC Floor Trough Gratings are specially designed to provide sanitary carefree use – to permit quick, efficient & thorough cleaning. Each grating features stainless steel construction & engineered to stand up under day-in & day-out abuse.

Floor Trough Gratings can be easily built to specific custom dimensions to fit your special needs & requirements. Many of these gratings come in an ADA compliant version, which simply means less spacing between the bars.

SG/SGAS/SG-ATS – Subway Grating

The SG series is IMC’s flagship grating. It is our most versatile line of gratings available. There are 3 types manufactured:

1. SG – Standard subway design. ADA compliant version available.

2. SGAS – The bars are machine serrated to provide an anti-slip surface. ADA compliant version available.

3. SG-ATS – The bars are angled 90° to provide anti-splash. ADA compliant version available.

Here’s the complete specs below:

  • Constructed of 1” x 3⁄16” Type 300 Series Stainless Steel Bars
  • Connected by (2) ½” Type 300 Series Stainless Steel Rods, (3) Rods over 15” Wide
  • 13⁄16″ Clearance between Bars – Standard Spacing
  • ADA Spacing is ½” between Bars
  • Gratings Are Sized up to 20″ Long Sections

SQ – Grid Style Grating

The SQ series is the grid style grating. All four sides are fully enclosed. The top surface of the grating is custom serrated in both directions, providing a complete anti-slip surface. The notches on the long bars eliminates water build-up between grating & the trough ledge. Lastly, the bars are wedged together with end notches welded for safety. ADA compliant version is available. Here’s the complete specs below:

  • Constructed of ⅛” x 1” Stainless Steel Bars
  • Connected by (2) ½” Type 300 Series S/S Rods, (3) Rods over 15″ Wide
  • Grid Size May Be Customized
  • Gratings Are Sized up to 20″ Long Sections

PFG – Pultruded Fiberglass Grating

The PFG series consists of pultruded fiberglass gratings. PFG is an ideal substitute for stainless steel or aluminum gratings. Long life, inherent in fiberglass, makes PFG a problem solving material where frequent replacement costs are unacceptable.

They are corrosion resistant, structurally strong, fire retardant, lightweight, anti-slip surface & low maintenance. ADA compliant version is available. Here’s the complete specs below:

  • Constructed of 1” Deep “I” Bars with 0.6” Wide Top Flange
  • PFG Standard Gray Grating Bars Are Spaced 0.9”Apart
  • ADA Compliant Blue Grating Bars Are Spaced 0.4” Apart
  • Gratings Are Sized up to 20″ Long Sections

LG – Louvered Grating

The LG series is constructed of 16GA stainless steel & consists of die-form louvers. It is fully welded & polished smooth for a unique, modern appearance. All LG gratings are 1″ high. Gratings are sized up to 20″ long equal sections.

CH – Chemgrate Grating

CH grating is constructed of molded squares & SGF polyester resin. CH features a grit surface with a 70% open area. Similar to the PFG series, CH is resistant to corrosion & durable. The full specs are below:

  • Standard Grid Size is 1½” x 1½” Square w/ a 1” Grid Height
  • Top Grid Thickness is ¼
  • Bottom Grid Thickness is 13/64″
  • Gratings Are Sized up to 20″ Long Sections
  • ADA version is available – Features a ½” Open Area Between Bearing Bars & Meets the “15 mm Ball Test”
