IMC Floor Pans: What Are the Benefits?

Floor troughs are essential for draining liquids & keeping your work areas safe & efficient. But, what if you need something on a larger scale to cover your floor area? This is where specially designed IMC floor pans come into play.

Fundamentally, IMC floor pans are designed to protect the floor from corrosion damage & provide a stable base for heavy equipment.

In this article, we will take a look at the main features & advantages of IMC floor pans.

Main Features

All IMC floor pans are constructed of 14GA Type 304 Stainless Steel & include integral coved corners. The integral coves, along with a deep pitch & a large waste cup, assure quick & complete drainage. The pan is sloped for complete drainage to trough to prevent water from sitting or pooling on the pan. The rear of the pan is turned up to the wall & the side ledges are sloped to the trough. The pan is your floor.

A setting frame for waterproof membrane and/or integral seepage flange with “weep” holes can be added for very wet floor areas to further prevent any leaking.

As an added feature to protect against extreme temperatures, all floor pans include continuous stiffeners for stabilization. Anchor straps are also included to secure the unit to the floor. Concrete is poured and fills in under the pan.

A variety of trough, grating, &  pan options are available to choose from based on your application. Some common options include: customized length, different shapes (“L” shapes), equipment plinths & side/back curbs.

Advantages & Value

So, you now know what a floor pan is, but what is the value of installing one? Essentially, the floor pan is your floor & saves you from having to replace tiles in the future. If you use the unit on the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th floor, it will protect from leakage onto other floors preventing damage.

These units are mainly used for institutional & public buildings in large cook-chill facilities. They can also be used to place kettles on or they can be used for ice machines.

IMC/Teddy floor pans are New York State certified for correctional facilities & are NSF approved. All floor pans are made in the USA.
